Finding Happiness: A Holistic Approach to Dysthymia Treatment.

Dysthymia is a long-lasting but often overlooked form of depression that affects many people. The Rehabilitation Centre for Dysthymia aims to provide a alternative to traditional medical treatments by utilizing the therapeutic benefits of nature through eco-therapy and other holistic approaches.

Located in Cosham, Portsmouth, UK, the Centre is situated within a picturesque green landscape, offering a peaceful and calming environment for up to 8 resident patients and up to 15 non-resident users per day.

Designed with healing architecture, the Centre creates a path to recovery by fully immersing patients in nature. Large glazed interventions, internal courtyards, and sheltered outdoor spaces allow for maximum natural light to enter the interiors and provide easy access to the surrounding landscape.

The Centre's eco-therapy activities, such as growing food in the herb and vegetable gardens, encourage and inspire patients on their journeys to wellness. With a domestic and approachable design, the Centre fosters a sense of well-being through the interaction of nature, architecture, and landscape
